If I cant install a scanner and printer, I cant use Ubuntu. This is an installation of 20.10 on a 64GB USB stick, and I am not averse to reformatting the stick and starting over, but I need a printer. As stated the problem is completely unique to Debian Bullseye and due to lack of knowledge and experience i am at a loss how I could resolve it. Is there an easier method Google has not been my friend in this effort. The scanner works perfectly out of the box in both 6.06 and 6.10. jammy (22.04LTS) (libs): runtime for the Gutenprint printer driver library. I have changed permissions and still get the same result. Works only with the gutenprint 5.0.0 release, which is not yet in Ubuntu 6.06 but in 6.10. focal (20.04LTS) (libs): runtime for the Gutenprint printer driver library. To test if the driver is working correctly, you can create a text file on Ubuntu: echo 'LinuxBabe is awesome' > file. I would do duplex printing (manual) when I was in windows but here I see no option of duplex printing in libreoffice or other places. I installed gutenprint driver for printing (ran sudo apt install printer-driver-gutenprint in terminal). After installing the driver, you may need to re-connect the printer to the USB port of your Ubuntu computer. I am using ubuntu 20.04 version and canon ip2770 printer. If you have other printers, you can find drivers on . Everyone who has this printer please either upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04 or test the newer gutenprint 5.2.2 package from showdriver. To build the Snap by yourself, in the main directory of this repository run. Then follow the instructions below for setting it up. Whilst following this procedure in Debian 11 the interface stops any printing with an error message 'filter failed'. sudo apt install printer-driver-gutenprint. To just run and use this Printer Application, simply install it from the Snap Store: sudo snap install -edge gutenprint-printer-app. This will install gutenprint drivers (v5.3.3 in my case). The workaround consists of adding an additional executable filter (called rasterlilo 2) to the cups/filter folder, configuring it for root read/write permissions, all others read-only and then adding the printer to cups and providing a ppd driver for Ricoh 221-pd which usually works 100% efficiently. sudo apt-get update & sudo apt-get install printer-driver-gutenprint. The workaround works in Arch, Fedora, Slackware, Ubuntu, Mint, etc etc etc, but not Debian. Printed it to my email account and could print it from there. operated print button but print page kept timing out. I have an ancient Ricoh SP-211 laser printer which is not directly supported in Linux however there is a workaround which works 100% in any distribution whatsoever except Debian. Could not print a label directly from EBAY.
